Tim Dickey and Julie Wanamaker have been singing together, performing a few times a year, since the 1980's. But in 2007 we decided to make an effort to develop a new repertoire. We started performing as Toast & Jam, with Laird Boles as our bassist, in the spring of 2008. This led to writing for the group, and then to a recording project. Winter of '08/09 we met once a week at the Boathouse Studio in Wellfleet, and we released "Ten Slices" in July of '09. That season saw several awards for songwriting, and our first appearance at a bluegrass festival. In fall of '09, one song from the CD, "Echoes of War" was invited into "Acoustic Rainbow #35", which has been released to 1300 radio stations in January of 2010. Response has been wonderful, with international inquiries. Tim will be known to those that remember the Provincetown Jug Band, which played summers, 7 nights a week, at the foot of Macmillan Wharf from 1967 through 1991 (he joined in 1977). He still appears with The Jug Band there annually, in late June. Julie's former bands included Fiddlesticks and Red Limousine, on Cape Cod, she also spent 4 years in Nashville, writing and performing. |
